anybody fitted these?

i need to fit a set of seats in my defender and i have been looking at these

Forward Facing Fold Up Right Hand

the problem is i take it you have to get in and then fold them down + they look a bit squashed in when the two are folded down together, anybody seen them fitted? what do you think, i was going to buy 4 tip ups but these are safer.

I've got a pair in the back of my Ninety. For adults, yes you get in and then fold them down. But I wanted them for my children so I've fitted an extra plate through the floor which the seats are attached to with a ratchet strap - this is because the seats are only really held in position by the weight of the person sitting on it.
So the seats in mine are folded down all the time, but I have the backrests folded flat when the kids aren't in the back to improve visibility.

i think ill get these ones then, i wanted something safer than the tip up seats. Do yo fit the seat belt fixings through the floor between the two seats??

Yeah, I've fitted two of the Exmoor inertia seatbelts. There's a plate that they attach to which is bolted to the floor between the seats.

Had these in the back of my last two 90's. The previous one was a hard back and I used a std seat belt mounted to the rear corner pieces. My current 90 has a canvas and so I have used 4 point seat belts mounted to the floor. I know seats are a hotly covered topic on this site, but it is worth repeating that you should use reinforcement plates where you mount the belts or belt clips to the floor.

I spoke to someone at Exmoor trim not long ago and the said that towards the end of January they will be stocking a FIXED forward facing rear seat. Not sure how accurate this was but might be worth a call!

just remeber that kids under 12 must be in a forward facing seat with a 3 point seatbelt, Exmoor trim do the flod and lock one with the seatbelts, if memory serves me correct theas what there fitting in the back of Military landies now

That's not true. If there is a fowards facing seat available they have to be put in them. But if there's none available then they can travel (unrestrained) on side facing seats.

IIRC children under 3 must be seated in an approved childseat and as there are no approved seats for side facing seats you can't put anyone uinder 3 in them.

I have fitted the exmoor lock n fold seat to my 90, it is the only forward facing rear seat that a rear facing baby seat will actually fit in, without dropping off the front!

They are easy to fit, just add decent sized spreader plates underneath the fixings and its rock solid.

Expensive, but better than killing your child.................
