Can you help a defender virgin out and give opinions on this one on ebay :

£3.5k and it's got no tax and 1 months mot, bit pricey imo.

New MOT and then it might be worth it, maybe.

You 'tratter drivers are nuts paying that amount!

At least £500 over priced. I know there is no such thing as a cheap, good Defender anymore, but £3500 for a pre Tdi with only a short MOT is a bit OTT. A couple of years ago I spent £2500 on a 1987 3.9 V8 110 with 6 months MOT and an LPG kit fitted.

Doesn't look too bad, but has been said it is over-priced.

I reckon from the paint blisters that the door frames'll be in a sorry state.

And I don't think it's a 'real' county. Didn't they have decals on the doors, cloth seats and carpet??

I paid £2300 for my td 2 years ago. And people will testify how nice mine is. £3500is too much money. You'll want to do a conversion so looking at 1k for donor and parts outlay. It also is dead basic so you'll be looking at those bits soon enough.

And sooooo much cheaper, I am amazed how much Defenders go for, but I suppose you get what you pay for. There are a lot more old Defenders kicking about than equivalent aged Discos.

Defenders also have significantly more class, just look better and make more of a statement. Defenders say "because I can" Discos say "because I had to, sorry for my failings"

Discos are better equiped but I much prefer the look of the defender.... and when I borrowed a defender for pony club stuff I was amazed at the attention I got from the mums Who needs a Ferrari or Lambo

simple choise really you mention the word land rover,no disco capable that it is springs to mind,and unless your a hairdresser no gaylander should spring to mind either,defender,90 or 110 is what people expect a landrover to look like

still think disco more refined for an everyday motor :5bdriving:

Agreed.

I've always had Defenders, and have loved them.

BUT I bought an old 300tdi Disco last summer to use through the shooting season.

It's quieter, more comfortable, will cruise happily at motorway speeds, and is just as capable off-road as any Defender for a third of the price...

When you look at what you can buy a decent Disco for, and then compare that to what a similar aged Defender will cost, you'd be mad to have a Defender:jaw:.

I do miss my 90 though.

I agree completely. The sensible money goes on a disco but if you don't need to be that sensible you get what you want and that would be a Defender.

I would prefer to get a good Disco than a shabby money pit of a Defender but if a good quality Defender is an option it would win every time!
