Hi Folks,

Just joined this site to try and enhance my knowledge of slightly newer LR than I am used to. I have just returned from 3 years in Belgium and acquired a 99 TD5 GS. Some mods have been carried out and it came with 20" wheels, Patriot full length roof rack & steps, and a secure storage box in the back. Silver Met in colour and 109703 miles on the clock with an engine refit with only 49k miles. Straight through exhaust, and another mod which I think was the MAF or something like that. Any way it goes reasonably well and returns around 25-28 MPG. It needs a few things doing hence my membership and hopefully the joint knowledge of the members of this parish. I should point out that I am also a biker with a love of all things mechanical. I also used to rally LR's so have a reasonable knowledge of how they work and there quirks although mostly all that knowledge was gained on 2.25 series 3's and AP's that were well modified.

Enough of me for now. Now the serious stuff. The damn thing has a seious vibration that gets so be that it shakes the dash. Initially I thought it was the wheel balance, had that done and thought it was better but it then manifested itself at about 45 as opposed to 75mph. Then fades away above 75. My thoughts then were the steering damper and as yet I haven't checked or changed it. Obviously there are a number of items it could still be ranging from bushes to shockers, to steering etc. Any advice from the knowledgable people on here would be greatly appreciated.

I have the time and facilities to tackle most of the things I am likely to encounter so please advise as you feel.

Thanks and I look forward to the banter.

Regards
