Evening all. Apologies if the terms are wrong in the below but I think you’ll catch my drift.

I have a pair of Volvo leather seats I’m installing into a d1. I’ve figured the electrics, however, I had to compromise slightly and retain a manual slide which im happy enough with.

So, I wound out the slide motors with a driver and removed the ‘sub rail?’ From the main rail. The plan was to then weld what i needed onto the simple d1 slider rails.

My current thoughts on options:

Cut the necessary brackets off the Volvo rails and weld onto the d1 rails and make adapter plates for the bolt points - I can’t see how these brackets are attached as doesn’t seem to be evidence of weld?! Surely not an adhesive? My worry with this plan is that I lose alignment as the seats adjust in multiple ways on these brackets

Option two - trim the Volvo sub rail down careful so that just to topside of the sub rail with the bracket is left, then run a bead down either side, welding the flat top section onto the flat top of my disco slider

Anyone done anything similar over their tinkering years?
