Well I couldn't find any threads on these by searching...

Who has one of these? >>>https://www.allisport.com/shop/perf...uning-unit-for-land-rover-discovery-td5-copy/

Are they any good? It's from a good place for parts, Allisport are as far as I know well respected so I would think this product does what it says.
But, who has one and are they as good as they seem? To me an adjustable tune unit is great because I love to change parts, so if I go and pay £300 for a map, I can't really change too much then but if I have a unit I can adjust when ever I want then, I can change anything I want and just readjust the tune if needs be! Sounds great! But also too good to be true...
I know a custom map or a stage 2 or 3 chip etc... will always be the best way to go, but what I want to know here is are these adjustable units good and can you really adjust the tune easily?

Cheers!!

hi

here’s the link for the synergy tuning boxes

https://www.tuning-diesels.co.uk/

as mentioned i had one on my TD4 and also testing one on my TDV6 and happy with the results , but of course the guys here will be able to tell u a lot more regarding the TD5

I had something similar made by Kuberl(Austria) which works exactly on the same principle ... it alters the inputs to the injectors, the feeling is good cos it gains power and throttle response but the management will be mixed up, EGT will go mad and the engine's life will be seriously shortened while "injector peak charge" fault codes will be logged all the time... in a nutshell, i dont recommend it, shame on those who sell these things for profit, IMO it's crap, you can get a proper remap for less money and better results

If you magnify the image in the allisport link you can see those 5 yellow wires, each wire goes spliced into a yellow wire which goes to the injectors at the ECU red plug so the signals to the injectors calculated by the ECU based on the addaptive strategy are divided between the device and the injectors so you can deduce what's going on there, the quantity of fuel to be delivered through the injectors calculated by the ECU using the injection-timing map stored in it's memory will be modified by the power box that's all ... IMO it's a very rough way to increase power and can lead to higher EGT which might have adverse effects for the engine on a long run

So, I'm still not clear... Can you stand on your drive and adjust the fuel/air yourself? Like adjusting the pump on a 200 or 300?
You can't do that with a Td5, with that tuning box you have i think 10 stages(that's how mine was) and the higher the setting is the more power it has but above 6 mine started to give more and more black smoke(which means excessive EGT too)... as i said you work only with the injector's management on the amount of fuel injected but this will come in "conflict" with the ECU's calculations

Ehh load of crap then really... If I got a box thing I'd want it to be completely adjustable so I can fanny around with it like you can a 300. I enjoyed turning it up and up until there was enough smoke be fun but not too much.
I'll just forget about this one then lol.

As fery mentioned utter dog poo...

Look on Facebook at Td5 inside remaps

He’s the man to do it although the waiting list is mental
