AT's everytime. I've had three sets now, each setting last tens of thousands of miles and they've never yet let me down when off-road as well. If you're planning on going into a quarry then okay, MT's might be better, but if it's a bit of sensible off-roading and not serious mud plugging then I'd be amazed if you got stuck if used sensibly.

Cooper Discoverer STTs while classed as MTs do have great road manors and are perfect off road. While not being too loud.

Just for my two pence worth I've previously had km2's and they were pretty good on road, I'm now running bfg all terrains and I have to say that in puddles and standing water the km2's were better. My commute is nearly all country lanes and I'll be swapping back when these are worn out....

Yeah and they kept spinning when laning lol.
I know I gonna come across as stupid but in what way were the km2's better in standing water and puddles what were the km2's doing that the bfg could not?
All terrain.... obviously...... MT will deafen you on the road
Perhaps they should have been clearer on the naming of the tyres.
there's always one smarty pants I was asking coz I have Mud terrains fitted they were fitted when I brought the vehicle, they are not as loud as you make out but as I dont go off road as much as I would like I was wondering if I would be better off using All terrains, I really need best of both worlds as I dont have the space to store one set of wheels and when I do off road I probably wont have them with me any way.
I was kidding its a good question, I use mine lots off road in fields and I still have AT's on. Perhaps SOME MT's are loud but you do get more extreme ones.

I've had Goodrich A/T's on for approx. 6,000 miles. Road grip is good, they're quieter than my previous Wranglers and worked well on that snowflake that landed here last week.

The open tread pattern of mud terrains cut through the water better than my all terrains.
What brand and size have you gone for?

Insa turbos and live with the drone. So glad I Dont have to use mine daily i would be deaf by now if I did lol.

I put a set of General Grabber TR's on my RRC a couple of years ago, largely because I like to keep the car as original as possible & the TR's tread pattern was very similar to the original Michelins. I think they were factory fitment for Defenders for a while & classed as a 60/40 on/off road tyre.
