Freelander 1 Aircon TD$ - no Tensioner??

Anyone seen this before? My 05 plate TD4 HSE Facelift appears to have no tensioner fitted on the compressor drive belt - is there a variant that moves the compressor itself to tension the belt?

No there wasn't a variant where the compressor was moved to tension the belt

I suspect you've got the wrong belt on there and it's been bodged to work!

Probably - And as the aircon is disconnected anyway (probably not gassed up at the very least)
- next question - any disadvantage in cutting off the belt altogether?

No disadvantage at all if you're happy with no air con!

I might investigate why the aircon has been de-activated first if this winter I find it difficult to clear the screen etc - at the moment I don't miss it. Someone has cut the single wire to the aircon clutch near to the compressor - I am not sure why............Possibly only needs re-gassing but I should be so lucky.............
