P38A Air bag fault

I have a x reg range rover p38 diesel and have a fault on nanocom its coming up with code 040 left side airbag is open circuit (permanent) any help on how to fix the fault its got a mot this week

While I've not had this on the P38 I have had the same on my GTA so try and read between the lines here and use the info for what it is.

Open circuit Permanent there means the circuit is broken if it was intermittent it would still be getting a signal occasionally . I think its all similar when it comes to descriptions across manufactures and it makes sense to me so I would look at the connector first and then move to a possible broken wire on that circuit. I believe the airbag is in the seat on your later vehicle(from what I've read although it would be nice if a more knowledgeable member could confirm) so moving it back and forth over the years may have caused fatigue in the wire.

I ended up cable tying the connectors together as that was my issue on the GTA. Not that much help but at least its a start.

Do i take it you have SRS fault on dash. I also take it that left airbag refers to left seat bag. Check connection on yellow wire under seat. DO NOT do this with ignition on. Better still disconnect battery and wait twenty minutes before playing with it.

Or if things are a bit rough with the missus, get her to have a squint at it while you're wiggling the wires.
 
Just cleaned the yellow plug and voila the srs airbag light has gone if everything was as simple as that ehh thanks again folks

I did this and was happy for almost two weeks... until it lit up the SRS lamp again. It's the passenger side, always. Thinking on cutting out the plug/socket and solder it instead. I will use heat shrink tubing and seal with Tiger Seal to keep the damp at bay. Irritating, but doable all the same.
