Hi guys

I happen to have a “spare” AGM battery (096 format) and just wondered about the following:

1. replace the standard battery and use the the AGM item (but will it be adequately/appropriately charged on the standard FL1 alternator?)
2. Whether to install it as a second battery for a basic overlanding set up.

I’m sure you guys have loads of experience with these things - I’m just seeking some wisdom! :)

cheers

Thanks GG - had a nasty septic complication following a routine surgical procedure, so have been out of action for a while!

Hi Nodge, thanks: I can straight swap my old battery for AGM as a direct swap? Or will the AGM life be compromised?

Thanks guys! Yes definitely on the mend! And good news will be Cornwall next week with the family for a recovery holiday!

Andy - lol - I know, and too many three letter abbreviations! The AGM could be a good option, but apparently one has to be careful of charging current to avoid damage to the battery… but other than that, could be ideal for the life my Hippo lives.

Hope you're on the mend now Rob.

An AGM will have a longer life, as it's designed to provide more engine starts, as it's designed to stop-start systems. ;)
