Aerial question

Quite honestly you can use a bit of bent wire, even an old wire coat hanger as an aerial, tuning usually affects transmitting more than it does receiving, so yes, there shouldn't be any technical reason for not using such an aerial, but you might (or might not) notice a slight degradation in performance.

If you're hoping to use the aerial for transmitting on the CB band at the same time as receiving FM broadcast stations, then TBH I wouldn't even try, that way lies a load of technical problems.

No, not thinking of that. I'm thinking of fitting a CD/MP3 player with radio, and TBH I don't like the look of a normal aerial on a Land Rover. A rubber or whip aerial would give me the option of getting a CB set again - assuming anyone still uses it :) Thank you.
