Unless you really need the LWB it would probably be better to go for an 88, purely for the fact that they are slightly easier to handle, park etc. I personally think LWB's look better proportioned but could never justify owning one!
I think the rangy gearbox would require you to fit the front axle aswell as it has proper CV joints to cope with the permanent 4wd provided by that gearbox. Not sure how you would go about this as the steering arrangement for this axle is different to that of a series truck. The brake system would also have to be altered as the rangey axle has disc brakes. Engine mountings and bulkhead would also need work.
If you really want a LWB and a V8, it may be better to just look out for a stage 1 V8 tbh.
I am sure others will correct me if I am wrong about what I have said, and also elaborate further.
