ok..
so today i've started the final repairs to get the disco through the mot and sell it on...
just need to repair rear cross member and a hole on rear passenger footwell, the rest is solid.

So.. the rear cross member is not as bad as i expected, after removing the bumper, it doesnt look bad, and its solid

but from the other side its a whole different story..

from the exhaust side

from the petrol cap side

all around the holes is solid, so i suppose just plate it should be enough?

also i suppose i should really remove the diesel tank..?
any precautions on removing the tank? like taps to turn off or something?

cheers
JP

just remove the feed and return pipes or you could remove the sender gauge and drop the tank but to be honest i have welded many vehicles with the diesel tank in situ and had no probs :)

petrol is a whole different ball game !

also you can buy a compleat new rear cross member :)

i welded it all up same as in your phots with the tank in, i put some tin foil a few layers thick around to stop stray sparks!
