Both dad and I have the same problem on our 90s, they both have the series-style 2 piece doors but there is a fair sized gap between the front/top of the window frame and the door seal. Is there any way to adjust them other than just bending them inwards a bit? (I don't mind bending mine but dad doesn't want to damage his)

Thanks in advance, Harry

ok this is gonna be hard to explain...

What i did on my old defender was get 2 pieces of hard plastic tube about half a cm long, then i cut them at an angle and put them on the threaded bit of the bolts before the doortop went on. This artificially gave the window an angle leaning in, took a few attempts to get it just right so that it didnt have a big gap.

I was worried that just 'bending' the door tops would stress/break the glass.

yep, you really only need a little bit of plastic as the window is reasonably large..its just a fiddly job..on off, on off til you get the angle right and theres no obvious gap along the top and bottom door parts...watch your fingers cutting the plastic, it has to be hard stuff so cutting can be a bugger if you havent got a vice!

standard landrover repair procedure no 1958302 b

Mine is a Defender with the same issue - Is this remedy for real as it looks like that is what it needs. Door flush at lock level, top of door frame leans away from cab. If this is for real, presumably put the window down 1st?

Old thread, but thats what searches are for I guess!

Many Thanks

yes, done it on a few cars, not just defenders, the op was onnabout the series type slidy windows, but works as well with the newer wind down windows, wind down and gently bend, too much and you WILL break summat.
