change the engine?
My daughter is about to come into a nice old campervan for using when working on digs around the uk - mainly Orkney.
It is a 1999 Vauxhall Arena - rebadged version of the early Renault Trafic.
Nothing much wrong with the camper aspects or the body and chassis in general.
However, it is gutless. I mean totally gutless. Rice pudding? pah. No chance.
The 1.9 N/A renault engine is fine for general running around, just don't point it at a hill, and unfortunately you can't get to Orkney without going up a hill or three.
I believe it is an F8Q engine for which there is an F8QT variant.
So as per title, is it worth looking at tagging a turbo on the existing lump with all the necessary plumbing and fabricating that that will involve, or would I be better looking for the turbo variant and replacing totally?
Cheers
:)

If it has an intercooler check it ain't full of oil, a known problem on the Vivaro, well sometimes the pipe comes off anorl, and the wastegate is still hanging on ...

Clean the Air Mass Sensor same as a landy, they choke up ... and check when the cambelt was last done, the timing out a tooth or so on a stretched belt will give a similar...

Is the turbo version not the F9Q engine im sure the F8QT is a Mitsubishi engine..
To fit a turbo to that engine you will need to lower the compression id say it would be easier to
chuck the whole unit in, you might be able to use the original injection pump to use the same ecu ect
Id join a Renault forum if i were you see ya.... :p:D;)
