Disco 2 ACE pins 28-36

I know this has been covered several times, but can someone verify bridging the ACE ECU pins 28 to 36 when disabling the amber warning light on the dash? Sierra ferry in particular had a good write up, but I'm being a bit thick as to whether the wires stay in place to the ECU, or the females at the ECU are bridged and the wires are cut? I saw in one conversion that scotchblocks could be used which infers that nothing's cut & the connectors could be removed in the future to reinstate ACE. help would be appreciated. The hardware is off the vehicle now, and just the warning light to eliminate. I tried to cancel the ACE in BCU with Lynx diagnostics, didn't work, unless some clever soul can advise otherwise? The Discovery drove well around the lanes, but dash lit up like a Xmas tree when took a sharp corner-is that because the amber light and ECU senses something amiss?

Unplug the ECU and make a bridge with a piece of wire in the female plug beween cavities 28 - 36 and leave it unplugged that's all.

Hi all,

I removed the complete ACE system yesterday on my disco II TD5, the hydraulic pipes, pump, and so on... and replaced by standard bars/links and pulley.
I tried to wire pins 28 and 36 in the female plug but the yellow warning is still present. Any idea ?

NB: mine is a LHD car but drawings are the same than LHD on that plug.

Another forum tells to wire pins 11 and 36... would that be the correct one ?

BTW, should we remove the valve block ? What about the valves plugs ? Remove it or let it plugged ? See picture attached.

11 or 28 to 36 both are OK cos the gist is to give +12V to pin 36 to extinguish the lamp cos that's how it works ... so if you removed the relay or fuse the lamp will stay on cos there's no feed in the plug...measure for voltage in the plug and bridge 11 or 28 to 36 which ever has 12V in it, put the relay or fuse back if you removed them

I wired 11 and 36 and that works.

The amber light disappeared.
I measured 0V at pin 28, and check fuse N°15 OK. Therefore my ACE relay should be down. Anyway, don't need it anymore.

Hi I've had the 3 amigos on a couple of discos now and both times its bin the svs valve in the ABS block around £50 to fix and the 3 lights av gone

You've been fortunate in that case. The '3 amigos' is usually caused by either the Shuttle Valve Switch plate (SVS electrical) or a faulty wheel speed sensor output on one of the wheel hubs. The only way to be sure about the exact cause is to read the codes with a compatible reader.
In those cases where a code reader isn't available, I have recommended that an owner should replace the SVS plate (30 quid or so) on the underside of the ABS modulator, incorporating the 'SVS Modification' almost as a diagnostic procedure. If it clears the problem, OK, job done but if the problem remains then it's probably one of the wheel hubs.
There might be other factors to point the owner to a possible faulty hub, but reading the codes is the only way to go then, unless the owner replaces all four (expensive and unnecessary) just to be on the safe side.

Too bad Bryan that a knowledgeable guy like you answered to an off topic post in this thread.... which is is about ACE not ABS...though what would we expect from a newbie who doesnt even went through the forum's protocol which means first post in other section

... but quoted something about ACE then spoke about 3 amigos ruining the whole thing

... i'd ask a moderator to erase the last posts(including this) and let this thread "clean" about ACE warning for the posterity

I did think about leaving it as it was but in message #9 filoutube did say that he no longer needed help with the ACE difficulty he has but added "I'll now try to sold out 3 amigos issues... " which might be read as "I'll now try to sort out 3 amigos issues..."

The thread was the resurrected by newbie @Gouda who although well intentioned offered incomplete information about the '3 amigos' which I felt required correction.
So yes I'm aware that the thread was about ACE but then spectre of ABS raise its head, and yes, like you I'm fully aware that they are two entirely different systems.

I've just wired 11 and 36 with a 3amp fuse in the wire incase I did the wrong ones and it works!

Then took the fuse out and secured the wire better in the pins etc. Been driving around for a week now and all seems good. Thanks

Hi guys I've done the ACE bypass and my light stays on. Ive got the 2003 facelift on my ecu I've got a red and black plug. I've tried the wires on the black plug with no luck. Do you have to completely take the wires out the plug or how do you do it . Your help would be appreciated. Thanks
