help needed please....

i have a 110 hi cap and the accelerator cable went, got a new one and it worked for about 10 minutes, I am not a mechanic so please bear with me, the outer cable by the engine block has like a metal thread and that keeps going through the plastic bit(!!),I have tried an r clip on the thread with no sucess, am I missing a part for the cable or is it me that's missing something (like a Brain Cell??)

THROTTLE CABLE
Adjust
1.​
Slacken throttle cable adjustment ferrule.

2.​
Hold throttle lever in fully closed position.

3.​
Adjust outer cable, by rotating ferrule, to give
1,57 mm (1/16 in) of deflection in the inner cable.

4.​
Check that throttle opens fully when the throttle
is depressed.
