Hi All

No surprises I've got a bit of a strange one with my 04 Discovery 2 facelift model.

On a couple of occasions my traction control has kicked in when I have been going very slowly (creeping waiting for traffic to clear) and not on a rough road surface just a normal tarmac road but the road was going round a corner and down hill if that makes any difference. It is a journey I do every day and this definitely doesn't happen every time. The brake peddle vibrates and I get the grinding noise like the TC has kicked in but I haven't noticed the TC light coming on when it does it.

Anyway tonight I was just about to pull up in the cul-de-sac outside my house to start a 3 point turn and a similar thing happened but this time it ran for a second or so whilst doing the same as above and although this doesn't sound like it lasted for long it was a bit unnerving when the neighbor's was was getting closer than i would have liked. Again I was on a road that runs down hill when this happened.

A few months ago the three amigos did come on about 1/2 mile after I set off from home and stayed on until I had got to my destination about 3 miles away and they went off as usual when I restarted the engine and haven't been on since

Anyone got any ideas what might be going on?

Thanks

These systems rely on comparing the speeds of each wheel. The first thing I would check is that the tyres all round are largely the same, particularly tread depth and pressures which can make wheels revolve at slightly different speeds, although the difference shouldn't be that significant and also the areas around each of the wheel sensors is reasonably clean and that they are all seated as they should be.

Apart from that, I would get the fault codes read, it's probably the only way you will properly find out what's going on.

thanks I did actually have to have a new tyre fitted about a month ago due to a non repairable puncture so maybe that's whats causing it

I used to get intermittent simular type grinding noise turned out to be wheel bearing it eventually collapsed caused abs tc and sometimes hd lights to come on.
