The ABS light should go out after the wheels move at more than 10kph. Otherwise it will stay on indefinitely. My MOT man got confused and tried to tell me I had an ABS fault until I showed him it consistently went out once underway. He still put a call into the VOSA tech dept. to check though. If it lasted a week before the system detected a fault and the ABS is working then it's a connector fault. Do as shifty suggested above and it will solve the problem.
If the vehicle has ABS the ABS light must light up when you start the engine and go out on it's own after a short time. If it doesn't = no MOT.
No,you need to act upon whatever the fault codes are - Wabco ABS codes are reliable, post them up and you will get help. After first visit to garage, prompted by the ABS & Traction control light staying on after moving off the fault was purely reset on the diagnostic computor or what ever they use and it stayed off for a week and returned.Thinking it was only a sensor I took it back and it was checked again this time it did'nt reset and got the news about the £1400 to replace the unit. Got in to leave started up and it cleared as I drove off, returned 2 days later with its mate the traction control light.
As advised by shifty I traced the cables from the front wheels inside the engine bay seperated the connections, just 2 pins cleaned and sprayed reconnected.I then removed the 2 multi plugs with a strugle from the unit sprayed with wd 40 and reconnected.
No change, next task is to see if a connection exists at the wheels to do the same.
Can only try!
