Hi

I'm new to all this, I have recently brought a 2.5 diesel 1999 Range Rover P38 and its turning into a little project.

A few weeks after buying it the traction control sensor on the front passenger failed , I have replaced this but now everytime I press the brake the ABS kicks in.

Anyone able to advise?

Cheers
Nick

Still sound like you got an abs sensor fault need to push them right in till touching ring, could be one of the others playing up. Give every body a clue where you are might be someone near you to give you a hand.

If the brake light switch is not adjusted correctly it can give some weird faults. the way to adjust it is to pull the plunger (which is on a ratchet system) right out while the brake pedal is depressed and when it is released it will automatically set it in the right position.

Hi

Thanks for that, I managed to push it in all the way and it seems to have solved the problem, just hope its not too far in.

Thanks again

How you getting on with your P38, looking for a 'similar' project myself...Keeping an eye out for a 2.5.
Im really new to all this and only recently got my first p38, and I love it. I got it knowing there was a few issues and its been a massive learning curve, but i'm enjoying it and surpried at how easy it is to do the work yourself rather than shed loads of money at the garage. Had Discovery TD5 before, never again.

Hope you find one soon.

Some of my friends have TD5 discoveries, some have been fine and others terrible! Seems that the less spec the better, especially when it comes to not having sunroofs! To me, why have a Discovery when you can have a Range Rover?
My dad has a P38, '98 4.0 se. He's had it 13 years and it's only done 75k miles. On the whole it's been the best car he's had! Has its had a few issues but only what could be put down to general maintenance, which any car has. He had a Mercedes w124 260e before, everyone said he'd regret selling his Merc for a range rover but they've been proved wrong!
