Hi people
I have a 1995 discovery 1 300tdi county edition right hand drive, the abs came on and stayed on while driving, so after abit of research and trying the scan tool that I had with no luck, I thought I would bridge the diagnostic port with the jumper wire and get the code “blinked” out, so after doing this the code blinked and I had 2,6 . this is basically the abs control module not receiving the signal from the brake pedal switch, this to my understanding can be caused by these faults,
1. Brake pedal switch faulty
2. Fuse blown
3. Faulty wiring
4. Abs control module fault
Now Ive checked all of the first 3 options with multi meter and with both swapping parts from another truck with no faults ( i have two identical trucks same spec even colour) this did not seem to clear the fault.
Now there’s two parts to this short novel now, whilst doing the above I knocked the jumper wire out of the diagnostic port while the ignition was on and the abs light was flashing the code. The code then stop flashing, to which I did not think any harm, what did happen tho was the check engine light started to flash and not in an even pattern, now this wont stop even if car is started, ect
Ive taken the battery off, tried anything I could think of, put jump wire back in, taken back out but the light still keeps flashing, before I started to play with it the car only had abs light up no check engine light.
I can also hear a relay clicking in the righthand kick panel by pedals, so I thought maybe the relay had failed, so I found the relay and unplugged it thinking this was causing the light, but the light kept flashing, so my thoughts now are the light was firing the relay?
So this is where I am up to, I don’t know what the relay is for?
Any ideas on how to fix this?
So as I said there was two parts to this, because I check all the above issues with the abs I narrowed it down to what I thought could only be the abs control module, so tried the known going one from the other truck but with no success, my guess is that it would not work because of the above problem with check engine light?
Also the truck with a problems abs control unit was already a replacement and had “dies” written on it, but my guess is it had been repaired judging by the other writing on it, this is also a factor in what lead me to thinking it had done it again.
Any help on this would be great? If anyone has any ideas
thanks Heaps Ben
