L322 A little help with heavy wheels

Hi every one spent quite a bit of time going through niggling little jobs not just my rangie !!
made some thing up to help with the heavy wheels on my Rangie getting on a bit now ,
this is what I came up with pictures uploaded , I know your going to say why when when he's got
a 2 post lift but it's not easy to work both at same time to raise and lower now I just have to raise just
of the floor and put my trolley jack under and bob's your uncle fit's wheel perfect and raise's and lower's
a dream ,just thought I would share with you all as it's getting boring with lock down

could do with a couple of rollers in there so you can rotate the wheels to line up with the holes.

They do something with rollers to put under the front wheel on motorbikes so you can rotate and clean them easier.

I new some would say it could do with rollers my son said same ,so I am going to make up some
but I do have another tool which I made some time ago, all that was 2 old wheel nuts turned down
and a short piece of bar welded on the end ,these fastened onto hub and the wheel pushed over
perfectly aligning hub and wheel and you just pushed it on but that was when I could lift the things
ah I tried at least i gave something read??

I’d love a pic of that contraption you made if you still have it knocking about?

Funny enough got some of those guide pins, had them made, indeed makes life a lot easier getting the wheels back on

I'm well past the first flush of youth myself
My answer to wheels is not to interfere with them, other than checking tyre pressures & (very occasionally wheel nuts).
If I suffer a tyre problem on the road I call the breakdown service, that's what I pay annually for, anything else it's a tyre outlet or my local garage.
To think I used to change wheels on tipper trucks, often when they were fully loaded ... a shovel always came in handy to lift or turn the wheel

I had an old C class merc a few years ago and one of those was included in the toolkit for wheel changing as it had bolts rather than studs and nuts

2 poster looks *identical to mine, although mine is cleanerer.


*apart from the tool tray whereas I have just handles, is that home-made?

Your reply was very sensible but I do all my own work on my Rangie and did not just a problem on the road
as I pay yearly breakdown as well , it's for when I service and repair in my very well equipped garage I don't trust
main dealers I worked on every vehicle made at some point and still like doing so keeps the old grey matter
working it's my b##ls i'm thinking about!!!

I mine came as seen tis a little dirty but I will be spring cleaning soon ,wife says I have to do inside house
first ## and have you tried arguing and still get a cup of tea brought to you !!

exactly the same idea but I made mine a little more tapered they work a treat

Well done you, having extensive knowledge & a well equipped workshop makes a huge difference ... I have neither, but a trusted reasonably priced garage 10 mins. walk from home has it's compensations

The fact I have an indie mate has made big difference to me. Gives me the confidence to do the job myself knowing if it goes wrong it can be sorted as well as being looked over periodically by a (previous) LR mechanic that is also a fanatic himself. Trust is the key there.

Hi every one
Its been some time since I was last on here to ask something RR been great and just past another MOT today
very little work just couple of bit's from last one anyway that's by the bye .
I want to ask any one if they have ever fitted a reversing camera to there RR as I want to fit one to mine 2005 L322
I would like if possible for it to come through my sat nav screen I know that some where there is plug ins but wondered
if it's something that can be done if so can anyone help thank you

Clicking through the channels of static on mine (not digital sadly) came across and AUX channel.

Either that or the PlayStation
