Hi you lot,

The bolt came out of the A/C compressor clutch, I lost the bolt but I found the front plate thing... Is there meant to be anything else behind it? Any springs etc?

Also, I've found this bolt which fits but, it bolts the plate solid so the A/C is perminently on. The real bolt is obviously some special bolt.
Does anyone know where I can get one of those bolts please?

Also, if I was to remove that plate, and run it, the A/C obviously won't work but is it likely anything will fall out the compressor? Because there plate and bolt isn't there to hold it all in?

Thanks!

Hi. Nothing special with that bolt, it fixes the hub to the shaft, the clutch locks the pulley, see this video

Interesting, when I bolted it on, the plate was spinning all the time and the clutch didn't work, but if I backed the bolt off a bit the clutch worked ;/

EDIT: Ahh, I've lost the shims... Time to find some washers I think lol.

The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago, but the front plate got damaged as it was bouncing off various bits of the engine before stopping on the engine undertray.
I bought a second hand compressor to get the front plate, bolt etc (cheaper than a new plate) & found there was an approx. 2mm thick washer between the plate and the pulley.
I used Loctite when fastening up as it appears the failure is not uncommon !
Fingers crossed, it's all been OK since.

Common failure, mine jammed the steering.

Please note Denso part failed not Land Rover part

It's amazing for normally high quality Japanese parts !
The bolt loosening / falling out appears common on other applications of the Denso AC compressor too (VW / Audi etc)
