Hello.

Just joined to find out more about the scene.
Been a closet landie fan for donkies years but never got around to owning one, due to family resistance.
Now, my wife's decided they're the finest things since sliced loaves so, watch this space!

Located in Cheshire, working for Government and running a seacadet unit in what's laughingly referred to as my 'spare time'. My wife and I canoe for a hobby and I also watch the 'Song of the paddle' site, for those who know it.

Looking forward to learning loads more about landies and perhaps even, meeting some more wonderful people.

David.

how do Dave :)

you wont find any wonderful people here. helpfull yes, but not wonderfull.

That canoe site sounds like a religeous cult site but i will take your word for it ;)

What changed the wifes mind? snow or LR recent "ad" campaign?

PS. Buy a defender

Thanks all - it's good to know I'm in good company - or will be when the men in white coats etc etc etc.....

I think my wifes conversion is down to age! (thank god she can't see this!!!)
Also, watching various TV celebs drive all over the country, nee world in landies has finally convinced her there's something in my long time lust (for the landies you understand?).

Anyway, a very nice, but cheap, Defender 90, geared I'm afraid for touring, not off-road (well, not intentionally!) is hopefully on the cards before I get too old to actually climb into one (does anyone know of a Stannah convertor?).

Used to paddle kayaks, but got to the age where it took 3 cadets to get me out of the darned thing (tip upside down and shake vigorously!) - decided that canadians were probably a little more suited to gentleman of my advancing years (not to mention girth ... so we won't).
I'm (ever hopeful) about to decant my offspring to their relevant careers and partners, so funds might actually be available for what Val and I want to do - her Polo needs replacing anyway (honest Guv!)

Thanks heffalump.
Unfortunately, ageing CO's are allowed to mess around (at least, not in public !!!).

PS: I was ATC as a lad ... but we tend to keep that quiet!

Aye, our OC likes to play the lad out of uniform, not that it stops our Fg Off wherever he goes  He's worse than me.

That one's going in the mammory bank for later use ;) I'll remember that :D I know where the bias lies LOL.

By the way, how on earth could you buy a landrover and not take it (purposefully) offroad!!??

welcome get a series 3 109 for touring not luxurious but wen u brake it its somthing you can fix with a hammer and wont need any computers ooo but ya woman might take a while adjusting to the noise
