Can someone tell me what the current situation is on retro fitting these things?
One of my local dealers will supply me with an original LR spec one if i can prove i had it on car before a certain date. Also i have sourced the one i want elsewhere and it is an original LR part but very £££. Looking in to it now, it seems to be a bit of a grey area, but i don't want to fit one if its not legal.

the legal side of these things is a grey area. it's illegal to manufacture steel ones now, and has been for a few years. however, you can still buy old stock ones and fit them. the only thing to watch is if you have air bags - in which case they are supposed to be the soft type.

If your car is registered prior to 05 should be ok, but don quote me on that. I didn't know about the airbags, is that because they won't activate in a collision with a metal bar?

If you have a decent bar on ( The original roo bar ) unless you hit a stationary tank, they wont activate at all. The roo is toast and all you have to do is wash the headlights and screen. Not very PC but its better than being 400 miles from nowhere with you fan stuck in the rad.

Cheers Spanish, but there's not that many roos in Scotland, so i should be ok:D. Maybe coo's, that moo. ;)

Not true, all Genuine Land Rover bull bars or A bars whether steel or soft are airbag approved.
