Hi all. This may have been covered on prev threads but I'm unable to find anything specific.
It starts on the button and idled fine.
Today i started it, let it run for a few mins as I only had a 2 mile journey to the supermarket.
I was only 5 minutes. When I got in, it started straight away and then died. I restarted it a couple of times. I had to keep the revs above 1k to stop it from stalling.
It would do this on gas or petrol.
It sounds and feels like its misfiring. After 5 minutes or so holding the revs, it stabilizes.
Any ideas?

Interestingly, it's only happened since I've started using gas again after a 2 or do month break. May be coincidental with the cold weather?

Dicky on both after a short run. Changeover from petrol to gas or vice versa makes no difference to running after a restart after a short journey.

Have you got diag? Can you see the values changing on the o2 sensors?

Plus, when were the plugs last changed? Gas seems to kill them a bit quicker.

The idle control valve is quick and easy to clean with some carb cleaner. That and an Italian tune-up and you might get lucky.

Hi Grrrrrrr. I dont have any access to diag stuff. All I have is the freeware EAS and home made plug. The software will show up fault codes i think. Will check tomorrow on fault codes.
Is there anyone in Norfolk that may have the gear I need?
Plugs and leads were changed last year.

There the Landyzone International Rescue map somewhere. If you look there might be a member with diag nearby.

Gas and Petrol will misfire together because the Gas system Slaves off the Petrol system.

You need diagnostics on it ideally,

They don't usually play up for the fun of it...

Do as Grrrr says first though..

Give it a good run..

Ok Henry. Thanks for the info.
I'll give it a good thacking on Saturday and see what happens.

Thanks for the link. I've found someone in my area user ' DMWD'. But I cant work out how to make contact. The chap is in Narborough in Norfolk.
If you mouse your cursor over your name at the top right of the page, you will get a drop down menu, clic on conversation and you will get a new page with a header "Start a new conversation"

"Nanocom - Unlocked Defender TD5"

He's only got the D2 unlocked. To add the P38 codes for your engine would cost him £50.

Couldn't see any P38 owners in Norfolk. Very sad!

I know of a chap nearby with a hawkeye. Would that show anything up?

After it continually stalled on me on the way home from Norwich yesterday and wouldn't start and run from cold this morning, I've cleaned the ICV and gave it a quick itallian tune up. Seems to have done the trick.
