Hello all,

well this is the first problem post,

I have a 94 Disco 1, 300 tdi, bought it only last week back in the UK then spent 40 hours driving it across Europe back to Poland, mechanically she seems fine (at the moment) but the passenger side window regulator is FUBAR the window comes down fine but wont go back up without some serious help, now coming up to winter and not sitting in that side of the motor it wouldnt normally bother me,

but.............. i live in a LHD world in a RHD car so everything from carparks to McDonalds is impossible alone, usually i would just wind down the passenger window and do some serious leaning across to grab tickets, drive throughs etc etc etc.

So my question is, is there a walk through or some simple instructions to follow to get the old regulator out so i can have a crack at repairing it or at worst ordering a new one from the UK and waiting however long it takes to show up, I have ordered an english language Haynes but as its coming from the UK god knows how long that will take, or if its even covered in there:confused:

Im reasonably well equipped tool wise and have a willingness to get stuck in, after that we are in to the land of the unknown but im hoping with your help i can get this started before moving onto the sticking sunroofs:eek:

TIA

You will probably find, that the three spot welds on the radius arm are giving way,or already shot-you can either re-weld it if you can line it up accurately,or alternatively rivet it back together-either way inner door card has to come off to get to the regulator -support the glass when you remove the regulator.

Thanks Guys i will have a crack at it this weekend some time, now im off to play in an old sand extraction pit, oh the fun of being somewhere like Poland, it beats having to pay for a pay and play day out.

Well just a quick update, finally stripped down the passenger door today and took the regulator out, it was a bent mess.

the main arm from the toothed drive was bent at almost 45 degrees and had managed to step itself into an elbow almost, im guessing its caught up on something in the door whilst opening or closing and simply bent buggery out of it.

so stripped it out, opened drivers door to check other one as reference that it didnt need some of the bend left in, it didnt so i straightend it out in the vice and gave a it a few tweaks and taps till it was almost good as new.

greased everything up shoved it back into the door, connected up and bolted everything back into place and hey presto, jobs a good 'un. its all working fine now, hopefully that will stop the wife moaning for a bit.

it might make carparks and toll booths a bit easier now, this bloody RHD motor in a LHD world is a killer without the passenger window working.

Thanks all for the advice and Trax99 that link was awesome chears mate, bloody haynes still hasnt showed up.

Does your reverse gear work ok?May be worth remembering for future reference lol

lol nice idea but the though of reversing the disco out of the underground car parks and in to the main streets here is a terrifying one, have you ever experienced Polish drivers in a hurry round Warsaw?

they are fully fledged maniacs mate, sticking the arse end out first would be a guaranteed smash, but McDs may well be getting to look at my towbar first and headlights later;)
