first thoughts....new parts dont always work.... tis easy to miss something not working just cos its fresh out the box.

how hot does the gauge say its getting? does the coolant boil and emit steam ? is the rad hot all over, top and bottom rad hoses both hot....

if both hoses are hot indicates pump and thermostat ok.
if you can keep hand on hot hose when gauge on red probably faulty sender or gauge.... or thick skin
if rad has cold patches its partially blocked internally
does the system pressurise when its hot..... expansion bottle cap should seal, system should be under pressure when hot , cos the boiling point of a pressurised system is hotter

How old is the rad and did the system bleed properly ? A few years age had a 200 disco , only overheated when driving on dual carridge way after about 10 minutes turned out the rad was buggered .

When my Disco was overheating, it turned out to be the fins at the rear (engine side) of the rad, almost all of them had blown out! Looked absolutely fine from the front, no leaks, no problems until you took it off and all the fins were simply missing ... Might be worth checking ..
