90 pickup tailgate

hi all .i am new to this site and wondering if any of you could help me please .i have a 2004 90landy pickup and the trouble is the stepped panel below the bottom of the the rear tailgate on the body tub is holed with corrosion .does anyone know if this is available anywhere or is it something i will have to fabricate myself .many thanks to u all in advance.

Weird place for corrosion? If I am understanding you right.

thanks for the reply i will post a picture when i fathom out how to upload etc,but yes along the rear of the body tub is a recess which the tailgate sits into when lifted .this area has several holes the plate is quite thick so i cannot understand why its like this.

You can buy new aluminium sills for this area, if this is what you mean?

would that part also bolt onto the rear crossmember

No, through the rear tub only.
