i know what i need to buy ish just need any advice

1
are the engine mounts different to a 200tdi conversion??

2
does the downpipe just need a little fetteling with or is there a pipe to buy like the 200tdi

3
have i missed anything else thats not the same as a 200tdi conversion

thanks in advance danny

Hang the engine in position on a crane and keep the weight on it but bolt up all the bellhousing so the engine is in the right position, get some 300Tdi engine mounts and bolt them to the engine then tack them to the chassis, unbolt the mounts from the engine and lift the engine out to fully weld in the mounts. The downpipe doesn't need modding, it will eventually meet up with the old exhaust near the back of the sump/g-box xmember. Best to make up an exhaust though as the na exhaust is too tight and smothers the tdi. Do a search for the step by step guides.

Sorry Beast thats how a mate and I did it when we were 15 with no money and a short amount of time. Even then it still seems to have held up after 4 years and 45,000 miles but it's probably not the best way.

Danny, follow one of the proper guides on here if you want to do a decent job. The main problems you will encounter are:
-You need to find/make a suitable exhaust to fit onto the 300 downpipe.
-If you have an lt77 gearbox with the standard short defender bellhousing and a disco 300, the engine will sit too close to the bulkhead to mount the air can on the tray above the drivers footwell. (we used the 300 fuel lines/filter and mounted the filter near the rad overflow tank to make enough space but it's a very tight squeeze)
-Assuming you are running the same setup as i mentioned above, all the hoses for the intercooler/rad will be too short. We simply cut them on a straight section and used metal tubing/jubilee clips but the better option would be custom silicon jobbys or have a look at steve parker, they have started making conversion kits for disco 300s into defenders and they could well supply all the appropriate hoses.
