Hi, my rear fog light is not working. It has worked intermittently, but not now.

I know the light fitting itself works as I have tested that.

I do not know which fuse it is as I have no cover on the fuse holder - but from what I can see, the fuses are ok - anyone know which fuse it is?

At the rear of the car, (red/yellow wire) there are no volts, I know the earth is fine, tested it, but at the connecter behind the rear lights, there is no live.

Any ideas? is there a relay somewhere, are there any connectors between the switch and the rear light?

MOT due....

Cheers

Have you checked the switch?
Mine was playing up so I replaced it for a new one but when I had the old one in the workshop I saw it was just dirty contacts so I cleaned them up and now have a perfectly working spare.

Nope, I'll try in the morning. Thinking out loud, it is the one steering column swith I have not replaced.

Out of interest, the light on the dash that comes on to warn that the fog light isn't working, does that just show power is live, or is it some clever device that only lights up when the light is actually working?

Cheers

It lights up when power comes out from switch to rear fog light

you know you have to have lights on for it to work ?

Cheers mate, so, I'll start from the switch end then and literally work backwords.

Thanks for the tip about the lights, I did know, but it is always worth checking...

just check every terminal, had the same thing with my reverse light, turned out to be a connection on the back of the bulb had come loose, and then corroded so no longer made a connection.

Ran out of time, so to get through the MOT I have knocked up a live feed to the 'other side' of the switch. Only drag is that they work without the side lights on.

Ho hum, I can always fix it properly after the MOT, or, after the 3rd time the battery goes flat because I left the rear fogs on....
