Can I have some advice please.
I've got a 1962 S2a 88" Hardtop with an upper tailgate or "cat flap" but the locking mechanism to keep the tailgate up is missing.
I have heard of owners using telescopic gas struts from end of life hatchback cars to keep the tailgate up.
Does anybody know how it's done, which struts to buy and how to go about the job.
There's a 17 second video on U Tube showing an owner opening the tailgate, you hear the hiss or "whoosh" of the mechanism working but that's all.
Any ideas anybody?
