Why is there even a 75 mm Lift kit? Even 3 sold ones on eBay. What do you have to modify in order to fit this hell of a spacer?

Anyone tried this?

it would increase the angle of the props way above spec, so I it wouldn't be advisable to raise it that high.

it's a soft roader that copes remarkably well in standard form, if you want to drive over the really rough stuff you have the wrong vehicle.

75mm is too much I think. 50mm is fine but to do it properly requires quite a bit of work. You can fit 25mm without any additional mods and it should be quite easy as the steering arms will still clear the chassis :).

Since im a german guy, i didnt really get redhead and chunkys sentences. But the other 2 guys explained well!

Why the hell is this guy even selling them! He wrote me that it fits the 1.8 Freelanders from 1999... I think the 2 inch option required longer braking lanes and some additional "struts" - right?

some did and some didn't, i've read mixed reports.

i would fit the extended hoses for the 2" lift and cut some metal to stop the steering fouling.

On their listing they said they had been robbed or broken into. It's an in joke that freelanders are more feminine of land rovers.

I think that the November edition of Land Rover International had a really good article on fitting the 50mm kit with the extended brake hoses and camber pins.

I don't see how you can fit 75mm without cutting out a big chunk of the chassis. If you fit big tyres (like 225/75/16) and a 50mm lift kit then you will have more ground clearance than a Dicovery 1 or 2 as standard :).

I fitted 215/70 R16 BFG tyres and that gave me an inch of lift, so I'm going to fit the 25mm kit which will be enough for me. If I want a really mean offroader I will save up for a Defender. But as a car that is really nice to drive on roads and can handle moderate off roading well I'm happy with my Freelander :).

Will.

The Freelander has nearly as much air below it as a disco has as the Freelander has no diff cases stuck in the middle of it's axles! I'v had to pull a mate out of some mud as his disco got stranded balancing on it's diff cases!! What was silly was he was following me and my Freelander got through without a problem but then I didn't sink onto the mud so deep. Big is'nt always best off road just as it is'nt on the road.

You hear alot about Freelanders getting through when Disco's get stuck, not so much with Fenders it seems. All this stuff about Freelanders being **** offroad is a load of absolute bollocks. Stock Freelander will keep up with a stock Disco in many situatioms. Disco will win in crawling Freelander will win in mud and peat in imagine. The disco's leave it behind a bit when you start getting into 5" lift trick suspension but by that stage I imagine they're a bit wallowy on the road getting to the lane !

40mm is max that will fit without taking a grinder to chassis. You do need crash pins to correct front geometry.

Ah good to know! DD has been neatening up the clearance for his 50mm kit, quite a lot of work to do it really well!

Oi, DD, when you going to MOT the fecker! I want to get some laning in this century!

Just fitted 40 mm lift kit and the steering arms do just rest on the bottom of the hole when it's lifted on it's jack. Combined with 225 75 16 I've measured 10 inch clearance to the lower middle part of the rear cross brace (lowest point). Diff just sits half inch higher
I think that's enough on the old girl. But got problems getting camber anywhere close on both front and rears. Can't wait to test her in some mud.
