I have a 300tdi with an auto box and when going uphill at over 65 she has a cough 3 or 4 times just like a misfire when it tries to change gear it also can do it on the flat at around 85 any ideas

do we take it you have a TD5 ?

could be the wiring harness.

low fuel pressure fault / fuel pump relay

throttle position sensor

or the airflow meter

any sign of oil in the red ECU plug or the plug at the front of the cylinder head ??

Hi yes its a 300 tdi and yes i sat at around 85/90 for around 1000k going up through germany on friday

think its a 300tdi stu

when was the last time you did your filters including sedimenter? also have you checked the fuel system?

only asking cos i had a similar symptom which turned out to be my fuel lift pump on its way out

sound like a fueling issue....

Hi English,

I had a similar event occur to me whilst driving my Disco TD5 (i know you have said you have a 300tdi) back from Manchester to Surrey a couple of years back. When it went over 65ish it would sound like it was not running on all cylinders. Made for an interesting 300+ mile journey home.

Turned out to be a seized turbo waste gate. Could be the same problem you have.

Regards

Rich
