4.6 auto box service and problem?

hello everyone, im going to be changing the auto tran fluid inc filter and washers etc on my 2000 vogue this weekend because of an annoying knock as if there is something slack when slowing down and changes from second to first, my question is that i have a spare valve block of whick ive been told could be the issue, would this be able to be changed without any computer reset work etc as i will do it at same time if this is a diyer poss job with no computer work to assign to car etc any help from you guys as always very muchh appreciated

if it,s the valve block in the transmission,i would leave it to the pros who rebuild transmissions for a living,if it was me i would change the fluid and filter and see how it goes from there,before under taking a big job like that,you never know a service might do it good,i do mine,every six months along with the transfer box diffs and engine
