I know I need a 32mm socket to get this off but what depth do I need. I’m finding it frustrating only very few detail their socket depth I’m not prepared to pay £80 for one socket (bmw432). Has anyone found a cheap alternative as it’s not a hub nut socket required to get this off. Also is there a sealing o ring between the solenoid and where it screws in. Thanks

Length of my VANOS Socket is 71mm...

And no, there is not an O ring between Solenoid and mating face.

It’s a thin walled socket as well, I don’t think a normal deep socket will fit. I made one out of a box spanner until I got the proper one.
I chopped the end off and drilled a hole through as it was originally a double ended box spanner. It might be an imperial equivalent as well. Think that’s vague enough

Thanks holiday chicken and saintv8. As it has to be thin walled then looks like a bodge it and sons job. purchase 2 thin walled non impact sockets and some pigeon du du
