Hi Chaps,

Driving home (for Christmas...) no, from the pub (just food ;) ) in the pouring rain and puddles when... flop.. no revs above ~1500 regardless of throttle position. Tootled into a siding and checked under bonnet where there was a mild smell like a burnt firework and some water droplets scattered around but everything seemed to be turning fine. After a few minutes of idling tried the revs again and straight up to 5k. Accelerated onto A3 full throttle and only make it to ~73 before it felt flat out, but it held there on cruise. Drove 11 miles then dropped to 50 and accelerated back to 70 with the sense it would go much further!

Water in the air filter..? Or any other suggestions, especially if something to worry about :p

Thanks! :)

Wet ignition components or crank/cam sensor wet.....

Check all electrical sensor connections for security and fitting. Part them and check for corrosion, clean them with some electrical contact cleaner and apply a bit of Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline) to try and keep the wet out.

Thanks Saint :)

Will do that tomorrow. Just re-done all the electrics on my boat today, thought I was done with the Vaseline!
