Been sniffing the WD40 again? :)

I would by no means call myself an auto-box expert. Hell, I've only ever driven two vehicles with auto transmission in my life, once for a fortnight and another one for about half an hour. So just for the OP, and in the hope that he doesn't start yet another fred about TC lock-up, I cribbed this out of RAVE:-

I think it's almost impossible to say that the TC should lock at 31.37584 mph in third gear, it appears to depend upon a number of different and varying conditions.

Do you really need a third thread about this!
3 times a charm
because I am still in limbo .... I thought am I asking the correct questions
4th gear has been answered this is done finished even unlock has been covered
3rd has not
also a member (MJI) try to correct .. post in the correct section directing me to this section

giving the fact engine performance plays a big roll how the transmission selects gear and lock up due to engine load and throttle position as well as engine temp I really thought I was posting in the correct section

the 3rd thread..... is only 3rd gear only .....I thought I would use the KISS technique if one was to look at the OP

lock up speed iam not really fussed about this has not changed since owning

what iam trying to find out is when the TC unlocks as I have noticed recently a change how 3rd gear when TC unlocks even using the lock up as an engine brake there is a 10 kph difference

thanks mate

my TC doesn't lock up @ 31 mph ..this is when my TC actually unlocks where a few weeks ago it use to unlock just over 37 mph consistently

I actually work in KPH with being over seas so having to use the conversion calculator as I got told by (MJI ) when posting in this section to use MPH

my TC locks up @ 70 kph = 43.496 MPH unlocks at 50 kph = 31.0686 mph
to be honest I have found it very nice using the torque of the engine even up hill at low speeds instead of screaming its hole out and going no where

only a couple of weeks ago my TC has been unlocking differently lock up speeds has not changed its actually unlocking there is a 10 KPH difference to compared what I am use to ..even engine braking there is still a 10 KPH difference of when th TC unlocks and very noticeable on the speedo when working in KPH

Remember to let Mr Torgue know!
unsure what your issue is buddy

I'm guessing I maye have spelled something wrong or miss placed a word .or pi$$ed some one else off in the past ,,,,,if .this is your come back ? LOL I actually feel embarrassed for you ...and I don't think its a wd40 issue maybe a alcohol issue lets get pi$$ed and give some one $hit

I do apologise shutting you down in previous posts (damaging your ego ) ... but in all fairness the engine performance does affect how an auto drives

for engine torque ie mr torque ..can you please explain ? or do I need to hold your hand for this one

It is called a sense of humour, when you mentioned Torgue I instantly thought of Mr Torgue High Five Flexington, yes that is his name.

If you had searched it up you would have understood.

It is a VERY FUNNY TYPO, and it is my duty to make a joke of it.

Now I suggest you try playing some video games, I suggest the Borderlands series, then you will understand, a VERY FUNNY series with bonkers characters.

My sons thought it funny too.

thanks mate

Your autobox is going to have many different points where it can unlock, because it's at the mercy of the engine management. It's not like mine which is soley down to pump pressure which depends on roadspeed and hence it's very specific when it locks and unlocks.

If it's holding on to the converter lock for longer, and unlocking slower that is probably good - its more efficient that way and the change is probably the engine management learning a new set of paramaters - they are somewhat adaptive. My old 7 series BMW which as far as I can recall used the same box in it's 2WD version was the same - if you disconnected the battery it took it a good half hour to re-learn it's changes etc. Unless the convertor is staying locked when you dont (eg on kickdown) or it keeps it locked so much that revs fall to idle then I wouldnt worry.

OK I have stooped down to your wave length and searched his name

seriously you have issues or your the one who has played to many video games ?
and its my duty the next time someone mentions torque I am going to think back about this moment and laugh about a ####wit that thought he was being clever,

try and stay on topic considering your the one who pointed me into this direction... if not go and annoy some one else who you may think that has posted in the wrong section
hopefully the next person also shuts you down like I did

thanks chris
its actually better to drive than compared to how it use to drive
I am now using the torque LOL (reminds me of some one ) of the engine and it pulls very nice ..even my wife has noticed a difference when she was driving it at the week end

Think I'm clever, well apart from the fact I am (I have to be in my job), I also have a strange sense of humour. I think it is sad that modern life is becoming an idiocracy in a rush to the bottom.

Playing games is interactive, a common hobby. I have played various games since the 70s but prefer modern story based games where I can shoot things, it is fun, more fun than just watchng soaps or reality TV (soap and reality TV watchers are the main critics of gamers, never get this from fans of Attenborough documentries, probably because we watch them as well).

As I said before just a sense of humour, I thought Australians had a good one. There is a lot of p155 taking on this site from many people none of it malicious.

And your lock up is working fine, most of them do that. Pretty sure mine does similar.

So relax, do not worry about your car, and remember there are lots of different people with different hobbies, and anything active is better than anything passive, mental active is still active.

The only rudeness in the thread is the fxxkwit comment.

As I said, I'm no auto-box expert, and when I gave you a meaningless figure of 31.37584 mph (50.49451984896 kph) I was trying to say that applying an exact figure to an application such as Torque Converter lock-up or unlock is a totally unworkable premise.
Not only is it impossible to make such comparisons between vehicles, I would venture that it's almost impossible to even make the comparison between the conditions on the same vehicle from day to day or even minute to minute since as I read it, the parameters which would control it; throttlle position, engine speed, operating mode, etc., engine load and even such esoteric things as altitude and ambient temperature can have an effect. That said, I would venture that driving style would have an effect also.
Like the others who have commented on this thread, I would say that you're worrying about nothing. Accept that that's the way it is.
Grab a couple of tinnies, throw another roo-steak on the barby and worry about things you can actually do something about.

the reason I was asking I was hoping some one else had a similar issue and i asked for desired speeds only recent engine work was I renewed fan belt and pressure cleaned the engine bay
I have monitored it today and its actually unlocks lower than I posted on the original post... i understand the ecus are learning but there is to much of a speed difference compared to how it use to unlock and this is an over night thing

I was using lock up as an engine brake it unlocked today @45 KPH =26.9617 MPH this is still nice

at the moment not really worried its actually driving nice to nice to be honest ..(but this could be the calm before the storm ) its allways nice to find out why this is changed so I know next time
considering I use the same roads every day as for good observation I can tell when my transmission is about to change due to either a lamp post letter box or 5 metres past the same street sign ... giving the fact a boost gauge is very good indication as well as watching RPMs for engine load.... i also use the ext out side temp button allot ..due to habit from my trade as well as keeping the same driving style in place while trying to chase an issue

surely there is something going on one day its unlocking @ 58 60 kph consistently for months on end ... the next day its unlocking 50 kph and now 45 kph

so i was more thinking maybe an engine harness issue ...as i have noticed other things in the last couple of days like my cup holder and roof mount DVD screen use to rattle @ idle foot on the brake in D mode while sitting at lights ..now they don't rattle .or something has disloged within the transmission fluid gallery's the oil in transmission isn't due a change yet
or maybe a sticky solenoid inside the transmission that has its moments

engine performance feels the same gear changing is the same

i also have no oil in the plugs

no rush
as I have other spare cars to use when the disco wont move but I like to learn new things specially when its my own vehicle
as for trying to be clever I actually rebuild roadtrain engines and transmissions yes some road trains use I shift or an auto box like the Allison and also I do transmissions on loaders dump trucks etc

i have learned from this forum a few things also how the transmission reacts on the disco like the engine coolant sensor if this does not work TC wont lock up and it never will ..the bigger stuff i work on there temp sensors are located inside the transmission pan area or in the valve body .....as for software and maps i can relate to this also
compared to how the transmission is now reacting i can rule out many things like maps engine load etc as there is to much of a speed gap involved

this is the reason i posted in the engine section as i had only did some previous engine work i never touched the transmission maybe when i pressure cleaned the engine i have moved something i don't know
so in all fairness when my TC unlocks at higher speeds i need to pressure clean the engine hoping the transmission works good again ?
the reason i disagree with you is you pointed me into this section then i then have to put up with childish sense of humour like the mr torgue who i had never heard of and you assumed i would do a search when iam trying to chase a an issue i may have or not have
you could of posted mr torque with a link even other members asked been sniffing the wd40 again ie bit of banter (sense of humour ) so i put 2 and 2 together on realised this is how you are

trust me mate i have a sense of humour iam not Australian my original post code is slightly north from yours so its true what they say (S### floats to the bottom LOL
i also have a wicked sense of humour but if you don't me you may get offended (just saying)

so lets turn over a new leaf
you like computer games
i like jetskiing fishing camping 4wding and having sex and the occasional street fight these activities are very active i also learn new things doing these hobby's

i also like trying to stay one ahead of the law ie speed enforcement as i like to beat the revenue
as the time goes by they come up with new tactics and new equipment i don't have any in public on my TD5 these are all private for curtain reasons

here is a vid of my d1 jamming one of my lidar guns
