300tdi / td5

Four years ago I sold my 300tdi and spent the following four years wanting another Defender, but I was wary about the more complicated td5. In february I cast caution to the wind and bought an '06 reg 90 with just 16000 miles on the clock.
Having read some comments on here comparing the two engines, have I made a mistake?

When your engine is running sweet you would prefer it over a 300tdi any day of the week. When things go wrong and you discover how expensive they are to put right you are brought back to reality with a bump. Without a doubt I prefer the power, refinement and acceleration of my TD5. But in the next breath I couldn't fault my 300tdi on reliability. If i could step back in time I wouldn't have bought my TD5.
