300TDI CD player wiring

Hi all.
Does anyone no what each of the wires do that run from the cd unit to the radio head? Power on the red and black, but as for the multi core i would like to know which wire's are the audio back to the head unit?

switch yer juke box on then cut the wires, one at a time, this should give yer some idea

Should have guessed you would have an idea like that. I hade the same. Will give it a go in the week. Might try taking the power off each time though!!!!

Not knowing about the unit exactly I am making a guess that there will be:

12+
0Volt

Audio Left +
Audio Right +
Audio common

and the rest will be for controling the player so by cutting them you may find that nothing will happen. In addition you may have a switched live.

Yep, that sounds about right.
Think i will cut them all, fit crimp male and femal to them all then un-plug one at a time.

silly question but why do you need to chop it anyway?

The other half has got her self an ipod and wants to play its contentse on our travels!!!!! Unless you can think of another way of getting a second input into the head unit.?

I see, you will have to make sure that you still run a cd in the player so that the Head unit thinks that it is playing or I suspect it will not select that input or maybe mute it.

There are 2 other ways of getting inputs, the first is to use a tape (If you have one on your head) with a cable to the Ipod, or you can get a radio transmiter for the purpouse, make sure if you go that route you get a tunable one because if there is a local station on or near the same frequency then you will have issues with the reception.
