300Tdi = broke - HELP!!!

Just set off for a couple hours on some lanes got to morpeth annnd ......... The DISCO stopped!

Felt like it was in nutral. Tried every gear and still nothing!
Stuck the diff lock on and away I went got 5 meters up the road and I got a huuge grinding/crunching noise from the front end.
Front and back prop shafts are moving!!

Is that the dif?

Any help please!!!

Ooh, dont call it a jeep round here

sounds like a diff let go, drive was lost so it stopped moving, difflock regained the drive but to a damaged diff and that made it worse hence the naughty noises.

as the noise came from the front its likely the front diff or maybe one of the knuckle joints in the hubs??

its not a ****in JEEP or if it is your in the wrong place

and yes it sounds like you diff to me. they do make huge grinding/crunching noises when they have gone

woooooopssssss!! my mistake!! DISCO DISCO DISCO!!!!

well its going into my mates place on tuesday moirning and i had to go and collect a full front axel on tuesday night £20 carnt be a bad price surely!

Can any one explain whhy? the DISCO would feel like its just innutarl though? if its just the front diff? until i put the Diff lock on? i thought these were perm 4 wheel drive?

thanks every one, its getting dropped off tomorrow and im picking a full axel up on tuesday night so fingers crossed itll be ready for next weekends trip out!
