300 tdi swap

in me mates defender which is a m reg 300 tdi,we were havin lots of probs with timing and smoking issues,and could never get to the bottom of it.

as we had a spare disco 300 tdi kickin around this weekend we took enjin out of the defender and disco and have timed up the disco enjin and put new belts on and new water pump and alternator and swapped over any bits we needed.

now on the floor side by side we can see no visible difference atall between the 2 enjins ,even the exhaust manifolds seem no different.

its about ready for refit hopefully 2moro eve
are theese enjins actually the same?
landrover quote different bhp figures for the 2 enjins.

i think there is only a slight diffrence in the fuel pumps which is why bhp is diffrent but they are the same stright swop over
