Hi im Mike and this is my first post..
Bought my first landrover 6 mths ago a 1990 def 90 with disco 300tdi engine.
Been great up till last week when it started sounding rough. I noticed a different engine noise and exhaust tail pipe sounded more like a v8.
No noticable loss of power or coolant, no smoke, just noisier engine.
On way home however going uphill sudden loss of power..lots of smoke..no oil light..temp gauge ok
Pulled over and would idle ok but give it some throttle and somethings seriously gone. sounds like a bag of nails
got recovered home on back of truck..had timing case off..belt being chewed on edge (will replace) but timing is ok..
One thing is unusual coolant seems to have changed colour..was blue when i changed it now pink and a bit frothy
Can anyone give me a clue from these few symtoms...could it be HG or big end bearings..piston rings...any help would be much appreciated
