300 tdi disco transfer box bearing

Hi everyone.
Could anyone help....
Front output shaft bearing gone, I have got a new one from paddock and stripped the propshaft and flange off. has anyone any experience of changing said bearing whilst box still on the truck. There is a youtube vid saying its quite straight forward with a slide hammer etc.

remove flange,then seal then circlip,refit flange loosely then using 2 lever bars lever flange and shaft away,bearing and shaft come out together

I did say to the missus on Sunday evening when the light finished the job that I`d had a brain wave and could fefit the flange and try to prise it out. But have to admit I was looking at 70 quid slide hammer from machinemart too. Renewed enthusiasm for the job now!
