ive read about this on disco's but can't find anything on defenders but i think its is it

iv'e read it could be a valve in the abs block, dodgy sensor or rusty discs. i know the landy had been parked up for a couple of months before i bought it so thinking it might be the latter

any other ideas?

brake warning light , abs warning light and Traction control should go out in a few seconds after the IGN is switched on , but dont really understand the Q ?? .

that'll be an ABS fault then , all i can say you can try yourself is take a look at all your ABS sensors and see if there still plugged in at the wheels . failing that its poss dealer time ...

is there not any software for td5's to download like there is for the p38 range rovers

Not that I know of , !!!! I know te TD5s are a pain in the ass to fix without a dealers programs etc . wonder if someone else on here has had the same prob or knows a work-around for it ?? .

I'll be sticking to my 2.5td :) as it doesnt have these extras :p

only workaround i can think of is take the bulbs out:D

If the TC light is still on does this not mean the traction control is off as well ???? Don't know that much about the TD5, but have you made sure the fuse for ABS/TC is in not blown, and the contacts are not corroded. There may well be more than one, and pos a relay as well.

Without wanting you to do something dangerous - are the systems working - suggest you MAY wish to try testing the ABS in a field along way away from any dangers/slopes etc..... (and don't blame me if you die/get injured/you landy gets dammaged/destroyed etc)

Follow the brake sensor cables back from each wheel until you get to the connectors. Unplug each one and give them a clean and a squirt of WD40. Plug them back and see if it makes a difference.
I was told by the main stealers that I needed a new wheel sensor (expensive or what?) but it was only a dodgy connector. When I went back to explain to them the real problem they were not interested.

james your a joker, but i promise if i die following your advise i'll come back to haunt you:D

spoke to brownchurch today and there gonna have a look but ill check the sensor connections first as its bound to be someting stupid
