3/8" Torque wrenches

Hi
Used the search function and found few old threads re torque wrenches.

Got a New Norbar 40 - 200 Nm 1/2" drive torque wrench thou not using it due to the range not low enough. So will be selling it.

Whats the most recent recommondation in 3/8 torque wrenches. I seen following:
1. Halfords 10 - 60 Nm £85
2. Draper black 10 - 80 Nm £30
3. Teng tools 19-110 Nm £50

Price and range and possible quality of the Teng tools one seems best ,and will do wheelnuts(so far done them by feel and never had 1 come loose.

Whats are Landy Zoners using for their 300tdi repairs?

I personally prefer Teng, but everyone has their preferences!

I have the draper. It seems to be pretty good quality but I think teng would be more accurate. I should really get it re-calibrated too. Probably will if I decide to do an engine rebuild

I too have the Draper. It seems ok to me

I have had a Halfords one for about 10 years. Got a bigger one also but thats a Draper.

Under normal circumstances I only use a torque wrench for crank pulley bolts. Last time I did an engine rebuild I borrowed a 3/8 one off my dad, but its not very often I have to do anything like that.
My 1/2 one is a dial type Snap-On that i got off ebay for a good price.

Seems as all 3 torque wrenches are of good quality which helps in making a choise. Good to know draper makes some quality tools as some of their cheap pliers ect are like buttter.
Local shop sells the Teng for 80 so can see it before buying online for 50

Would mainly be for engine repairs, needed a torque tool for exhaust manifold nuts and pulley bolts when did the waterpump. Next job of refurb steering box will be when the new torque wrench has arrived

My 3/8" torque wrench is the Teng you mention - IME, it's a very good tool with superb repeatability and a nice feel to it - I have a 3/4" drive of theirs too, and it is equally good, but somewhat heavier .

Why sell the 1/2" torque wrench? Just buy a 3/8 to complement it.
You can never have too many tools, and it's guaranteed that you'll need the extra capacity of the 1/2" wrench, the moment you don't have one.

Some draper is total junk mate. It's the old school draper that was good. I have an old school tin set of sockets and the ratchet is tough as nails. I think the torque wrench is ok and have built an engine with it but would defo buy teng if I were you. Good gear

+1 a 3/8 for small stuff then a 1/2 For big.

Some arm bolts are 176nm. If your half goes up to 200 you can hit it without the wrench being wound up to max

And a 3/4 for really big, (D2 Hub for instance needs 400Nm).

with stuff that big a long bar is more than adequate
