Just bought some 235 85 16 tyres. Will I need a lift to get these on? Or will it be okay on the standard suspension?

Thanks in advance

Depends.

If you have old saggy originals then you "might" get away with them.

Recently replaced std height, no problem.

Be warned, you might not like the taller gearing, I know I don't and will be down sizing very soon.

I've read that, so you can fit any of those tyre sizes with rubbing inside of the arches? With doing the camel cut of course

What does it drive like with taller tyres?

Gearing is out by 10%, might not seem much but it is enough to make it annoying have to rev hard to get up to speed to change up and then be low down on revs and need to build up again, driving in town is a ball ache, country roads, also a ball ache, highway is nice unless stop start jams.

Only time it gets better is with a 1.4 transfer box or 4.12 ring and pinions.

I run them, this is my own personal experience. Not hear say.

I agree completely.

Before fitting 235/85's I tweaked the pump, it made quite a difference, much more relaxed driving not having to work at gaining speed.
With the bigger tyres fitted it's lost all the extra getup and go and a bit more to boot.
5th gear at anything less than 50mph and it just looses speed unless you push the throttle.

Looks great and gives around 1 1/2" extra ground clearance on the axles, but for road driving you'll suffer.

As soon as the threat of snows gone I'll put my spare set of wheels on with standard road tyres and keep the bigger ones for green laneing P&P days.
