Hi all, hope you can help me, I've just put 2 brand new Goodyear Wrangler HP A/W 235/65 R17 V (104) to the front, ( inside quarter of old fronts worn) of my 2010 freelander 2. Since putting them on I get a real bad humming noise, can't hear it when accelerating but hear it on lift off and when changing gear, can hear it when coasting in neutral too. I put the same tyres on the car has always had and can't understand the noise, any help would be great. Cheers all

You remarked that there was uneven wear on the old front tyres which would tend to indicate excessive "toe-in". Before you go any further, I'd be inclined to get the tracking checked first. Any such variation from what was set originally might be an indication of cumulative wear in the various steering joints.
Unless your wheels and tyres are rolling true then it's almost impossible to attribute noise generation to any particular defect.

Its all to do with the vcu. Uneven tyre wear or new tyres on front and old tyres on rear cause the vcu to work harder eventually causing damage. Glad you swapped them.
