Well after having a disaster when my engine drank river water last weekend now have engine out on the garage floor.
Drained oil and got a litre of water 1st.
Removed sump and small piece of engine block has fallen out.
Can I remove ladder frame without removing flywheel housing etc?
Need to get this off to ascertain the extent of the damage and get access to conrod bolts.

Took the flywheel off and no bolts from the back , ended up loosening the flywheel housing and ladder frame came off.
Cylinders three and four con rods bent , nuts loosened on No 4 and able to move that piston and conrod.
No 3 nuts loosened and unable to move it at all, No1 and No 2 nuts slackened and both move ok.
Will take cylinder head off tomorrow and remove the pistons and conrods that I can.
Cannot see how I can remove number three unless removing the crankshaft all together will allow its removal.

Managed to get No 3 big end cap off today by drilling and tapping for a 5mm bolt in big end cap and rigging a means of shock loading with a hammer.
Had to slacken main bearing caps to get it off last part.

Now need to stand it back up and strip cylinder head and timing case off so I can totally dismantle.

Forget that question managed to find approx weight on here , strange how a web search does not direct you to posts on here.

Engine stand arrived lunchtime today assembled and looks the business , pretty please as delivery was given as next Wednesday.
Hopefully will get the engine on it tomorrow.

Got crank out today will have to cut both these conrods to remove.
.
small amount of damage on lower skirt of bores , if this was ground down around edge would it affect running.
.
left hand side of lower one bashed edge, right hand side of upper part fractured off.

As long as the damaged area doesn't travel up any further (cracks or debri damage etc) you should be alright as it doesn't look to be in the area the piston runs on.
How far up does the damage go?
