Started my conversion at the weekend and got on well thanks to the handy thread on here. Now the engine is in I've noticed the fan doesn't fit as it rubs on the steering box. Does anyone else fit the fan or just leave it out? I was just concerned about over heating?I've also been thinking about fitting a electric one. Any advice appreciated. Cheers in advance

I haven't had a fan fitted since dropping the 200tdi in - drove it through the summer no problem. This time of year I'm struggling to get the engine temperature up - not down!

I'll probably fit an electric one at some point - I've got a thermostatic switch ready to go in when I do get around to it, but will also fit a switch on the dashboard for manual override.

got fan of a a scrap mondeo

Think I best get down the local scrapyard at the weekend then. Was thinking about a overide on the dash aswell. Thanks guys. Hopefully will get it all finished at the weekend.

Like I said, there's really no rush to get the fan fitted before about July! Even then, unless you're towing or going up a lot of steep hills, you'll probably be fine without.

trouble is when you drop the engine in the weight and gearbox twist it to the drivers side, you need to move engine slightly over to passenger side as you lower it in, fan should clear by good 10mm . mine does.

No fan on mine too , havent used the leccy one even sat in traffic . a frontara 2ltr fan fits pucker ( there duel fans , cut the one off ) . Fits like a glove and looks very neat and tidy :) .

Yer all bolted in n tight but just catches will try n level it all up at weekend when can get the forklift out. I've got a disco v8 fan Witch is smaller will fit that if no luck straightening it up.also got a disco v8 leccy one as a back up.
