Evening all, as title says im after some info on what hose is best for my dads lightweight with a 200 di conversion. Theres a home made jobby at the mo but ive heard a certain renault hose is best for shape and fitment???

Regards

Have a look at: glencoyne.co.uk for very useful instructions on fitting a 200 lump into a series. He recommends using a 'Gates' 32/38 Vulcoflex hose, part number: 25305. I have one on my Series 3 and it's been on for about 9 years. I got a spare at the same time... If you are wondering about those numbers, 32 is the mm diameter at one end and 38 is... you get the picture.
Where to get one from? I ordered mine in from my local trade motor factor.
Can't comment on the Renault thing, never heard that but if you find out what is required, please post it up here.

When I needed a bespoke top hose for my Perkins I found a guy on e-bay selling silicone hoses for custom cars, you could specify the colour, dia of each end and choose straight or a number of bends, wasn't expensive and its worked really well.

I used the stock bottom hose and made a short right angle adapter. I just cut a bit off one end of the hose and used that to connect to elbow to the water pump, that way at least its a stock part.

Be warned, my aftermarket radiator hoses were very poor quality and they weren't even waterproof. Coolant seemed to come through from the inside then weep out of the end where you can see the cords.

I've since replaced them all with silicone hoses, I think the bottom one was a standard 135 deg bend.
